Police confirm assassination APC lawyer, vow to hunt down killers

According to him, preliminary investigation showed that Atsuete might have been shot in his car after struggling with the armed men.

The Rivers Police Command has vowed that the killers of human rights lawyer, Mr Ken Atsuete, will be fished out and face the full wrath of the law.

The Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed that on Monday, August 29, around 6am.
Omoni, who described the incident as “pure assassination,” said the police has swung into action and would ensure that killers are brought to book.
According to him, preliminary investigation showed that Atsuete might have been shot in his car after struggling with the armed men.
“The killers used Atsuete'ss car to escape, abandoned it, ran into another car and escaped with it.
“This is an unfortunate thing that has happened. His body has been deposited at the mortuary and police investigation has commenced," Omoni said.

Awoniyi joins NEC Nijmegen on loan

 
The Liverpool forward will team up with the Dutch Eredivisie side on loan for the 2016/2017 season

Former Nigeria U17 and U20 striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined NEC Nijmegen on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool subject to the granting of a work permit.
Liverpool confirmed the departure of the Nigerian youngster who played on loan last season with Bundesliga side FSV Frankfurt  on its website.
"Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Dutch side NEC Nijmegen on a season-long loan deal, subject to a work permit being granted." the statement reads.
The 19-year-old player who joined the Reds last summer, has been handed the no. 9 jersey in Peter Hyballa's team.
Nijmegen who are currently unbeaten in the Eredivisie with one win and two draws will hope to continue heir fine form when they host AZ Alkmaar this weekend.
Awoniyi was a member of the Nigeria U23 squad that qulified for the 2016 Olympic Games but he was cut by coach Samson Siasia days before the competition.

Ex-minister of aviation and Senator, Stella Oduah, has lost her 28-years old son to a brief illness, reports say.

According to Punch Newspaper, the Senator's son was reportedly pronounced dead at a private hospital on Friday, August 26, 2016 in Abuja
Confirming the loss, Senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra Central in the Senate, said: “It is very unfortunate. It has shown that death and life belong to God and it is only Him who controls our life. It is a trying moment for her and all of us. I know how it feels as a mother. It is only God who can console her.
Oduah, is currently representing Anambra North Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
