NEYMAR PROVES TO BE PSG'S MAN TO WATCH - EVEN IN THE STANDS

The world's most expensive player will not make his bow for Unai Emery's men for at least another week, but he is a figure already loved at the Parc
He did not even take to the field to kick a ball in anger, yet Paris Saint-Germain’s opening fixture of the Ligue 1 season contrived to be centred around Neymar. The 2-0 victory over Amiens became a mere sideshow.
The world-record €222 million capture from Barcelona was presented to supporters prior to the game but, aside from a few tricks with the ball, PSG fans will need to wait at least another week before capturing a glimpse of their new hero in action.
Nevertheless, Paris is gripped with Neymar fever that has now spanned the full 48 hours since his arrival was declared from Barcelona. Reports in the local media suggest that PSG sold an astonishing 10,000 Neymar strips in their city centre boutiques, but the greatest manifestation of the enthusiasm for the 25-year-old arrived before Saturday’s Ligue 1 curtain-raiser.
Amid fireworks, the deafening chant of his name and an electric atmosphere that suggests PSG’s fans believe they are embarking on something very special, the 25-year-old Brazil international received a welcome befitting of the world’s most expensive player.
Neymar was forced to watch on from the stand as Unai Emery’s side got off to a winning start against little Amiens, a club who secured promotion to the top flight for the first time with literally the last kick of last season. Their total budget of €25m represents the wage of PSG’s new star for only half the season.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of an incredible presentation, which had whipped the home crowd into a frenzy, he expressed only one regret.
“I wanted to play but it’ll happen at the right moment,” he told the media.
Nevertheless, the visitors equipped themselves well in a defensive manner before finally succumbing to a goal from Edinson Cavani, who gave notice to his new South American colleague that he will take some dislodging from becoming the club’s top scorer this season.
fter missing an early chance, the Uruguayan showed a smart touch and quick feet to create space in the box before bobbling a shot past Regis Gurtner in the visiting net. The goal arrived four minutes before the break, with the hosts under threat of having a really complicated encounter against the minnows.
True to form, Neymar, who had offered some simple but well-executed French as he spoke to the crowd before the game, did not put a foot wrong. With cameras pinned on him, he was seen off his feet and vehemently celebrating as his new team-mate found the net.
Another goal arrived late on from Javier Pastore, who tapped home a Cavani pass, but it was largely academic.

Funke Akindele’s Husband Clears The Air On Why Toyo Baby Left Jenifa’s Diary

Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, husband of Funke Akindele has explained the reason why Toyosi left Jenifa’s diary, while also dismissing suggestion that his cousin, Moe Musa’s left his house to his actress wife.
“Moe has been in Nigeria then for almost six months, so he felt it was time to get his own place. To be honest, when you first relocate to Nigeria, you’ll find it very hard to stay alone because you don’t understand the system yet.
“The way things work in Nigeria is different from the way it works in other countries. Moe stayed with me for a while, so he could get used to the Nigerian system, how to get food, how Generator works and other confusing stuffs,” JJC Skillz said in his account of what led to Moe leaving his house.
He also debunked report linking him to the breakup between his wife and Toyosi, a character in Akindele’s comedy series, Jenifa Diary
According to him,
I don’t know why Toyosi left and it has nothing to do with me. Just like any character in a TV series, she can go and return. The only permanent character in the series is Jenifa. Falz has gone and came back; Toyosi has gone and maybe will come back. Toyosi has gone, now she’s back.
“In the script, Toyosi is married and has gone to France with her husband to live for a while. So, anything can happen. When she comes back, you’d see her on screen, if not, then that’s what the script said.”

Media personality reflects on her troubling times in UNILAG

Toke Makinwa will be ending her "On becoming" book tour here in Lagos.

The Vlogger will be going to the University of Lagos where she would be speaking to students and signing books.
She took to her Instagram page last night July 24, 2017, and reflected on her time while in the school. Remembering the time her grades were so bad she was advised to withdraw, she also talks about her struggles while in school.
She wrote,
"I haven't always made the right choices but I am thankful for grace. I'm nowhere near perfect, I struggle sometimes but I'm learning to lean on the grace of God to catch me when I fall.
it's quite emotional for me to end my book tour at the University of Lagos cos I remember my time there, I wasn't the brightest student, I had potential but I was a troubled young girl, I didn't care much for my books until one day I was advised to withdraw, and I hit rock bottom.
I had nowhere else to go, my grades were bad, so bad the school asked me to leave. Something happened (grace), there was a meeting with all department heads I was granted mercy on humanitarian grounds.
My lecturers knew I had it in me but I couldn't see what they saw, they decided to give me an extra year to turn it around. It was humiliating, I started not quite at the bottom but it was a struggle.
My mates had graduated and I was in a new class and boy it was hard but I did it. I don't know how but I made a 2:2. Instead of 4 years, I spent 5/6 but I made it out. It is important for me to go back and meet with the students in Unilag, the ones doing great and the students that are struggling too.
Sometimes it takes sharing your story to inspire someone to believe in themselves and I'm always up for it."
Meanwhile, the radio presenter seems ready to give love another chance but she is keeping her cards close to the chest.
Makinwa, who is rumoured to be dating US-based Oluseyi Kuyeshared a picture of herself and an anonymous man rocking a pair of Gucci shoes on Snapchat back in June.

Mourinho reveals which positions Man Utd are looking to strengthen

The Red Devils' quest to strengthen their squad may have begun to stutter but the Portuguese manager remains hopeful of making two signings
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed he wants to add a midfielder and winger to his squad.
Though Mourinho would not divulge the names of his targets, Inter's Ivan Perisic and Nemanja Matic of Chelsea are thought to be at the top of his wishlist.
United have signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku so far in the transfer window, while Mourinho has previously suggested he may be forced to settle for just one more addition.
By comparison, Manchester City have spent an estimated £200million on six players, while Chelsea (four) and Liverpool (three) have recruited more fresh talent than United so far, but Mourinho remains calm about the situation.
"I don't know [the current situation], honestly I don't know, Ed [Woodward] is in control," the United boss told a media conference on Tuesday.
"He did Lindelof and Lukaku, he knows that I would like two more players but he also knows that I have balance, I depend on the situation, the market, and if my club is unable to do two players and just one, I accept that as a consequence of the market now.
"Our relationship is good and I just wait for good news, and he knows good news is to have the players, maybe just the [one] player as soon as possible because to work together with the team is really important.
"But I'm calm, I like my players, I like my squad, I trust them, so I'm calm and that's important."
He added: "I would like one player [to be] a midfield player, [that] would give me more options to the balance and the team.
"Another one an attacking player, especially that can play through the wings to give me more attacking options but I never speak about players that belong to other teams.
"I don't like if any manager comes and would say he would like one of my players, that's not correct. I would like two more players but probably I only get one."

Batshuayi issues a warning to Morata but Chelsea's £70m man looks ready to take off

The Belgium international netted against Bayern Munich on Tuesday but his Spanish rival impressed during his half-hour cameo in Singapore
The National Stadium in Singapore could hardly be considered a second home for Alvaro Morata but his Chelsea career nonetheless began in familiar surroundings - on the bench.
The man who continually made such an impact as a substitute for Real Madrid last season had to wait until the 63rd minute before being introduced into Tuesday's International Champions Cup clash with Bayern Munich.
It's doubtful that he ever bore witness to such dreadful defending during his two separate stints at the Santiago Bernabeu, or indeed his two-season spell with Juventus.
Chelsea were 3-0 down by the half-hour mark, with Thomas Muller netting a classy double after Rafinha had opened the scoring with bouncing drive from distance that Thibaut Courtois must still be wondering how he failed to reach.
Antonio Conte's men only trailed by two goals by the time Chelsea's most expensive player finally entered the action, with Marcos Alonso having lifted the Blues' beleaguered spirits with a sweet strike just before the interval.
Morata did not inspire a turnaround but his arrival undeniably coincided with Chelsea's best spell in the match.
He looked sharp right from the moment he came on in place of Jeremie Boga, winning a throw-in deep in Bayern territory with his first couple of touches.
Then, there were a couple of nice shows of his fancy footwork and deceptive pace, with the Spain international setting up a dangerous attack by skipping past Milos Pantovic in the middle of the park before drawing a foul from the same player after a surge up the left wing.
Morata also challenged for the corner that dropped so invitingly for Michy Batshuayi to convert with just five minutes remaining but there was to be no dramatic last-gasp equaliser for £70 million man.
Instead, there will be a modicum of satisfaction with his match sharpness but also the realisation that Batshuayi could yet offer spirited competition for the coveted lone central striking berth in Conte's starting line-up.
However, he did not move to Stamford Bridge to swap one seat on the bench for another and he did enough to suggest in his cameo in Singapore that he will prove a mobile and effective outlet for Chelsea this season.
He is not young in football terms and the 24-year-old himself acknowledged earlier this year, "I have to take off now."
