£12.5 million, 13 games, ZERO goals: What's wrong with Isaac Success?

The Nigeria forward moved to Watford with great expectations, but has struggled for goals this season.
Isaac Success has failed to score in his last 13 Premier League matches, his longest drought ever in professional football, but what exactly has gone wrong?
In 2016, Watford forked out a club-record fee to bring the forward to Vicarage Road following his impressive run with Granada, but since Success's arrival, it's fair to say that the Hornets have not received great value for their money as the Nigerian looks to have lost his Midas touch.
The 21-year-old made a low-key debut on August 27 2016, and registered his first goal four games later against Bournemouth.
After that, the one-cap Super Eagles hitman has played 13 times for Watford, failing to find the net even once – which could be a cause for his team’s blip over the past few games

In last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Hull City, he offered next-to-nothing as he failed to muster one shot on target during a game in which he was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Hornets attack after replacing Nordin Amrabat, and it remains to be seen whether he will start against Liverpool on Monday evening.
Aside his injury worries, it is difficult to explain Success’ problems, although one theory is that he is less comfortable with Walter Mazzarri’s tactics than he was in his previous set-up at Granada.
However, former Real Madrid midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has contrary opinion – he feels the forward is still trying to adapt to English football, while suggesting he works harder during trainings to get back to his best.
''There's no cause for worry about [Success's] lack of goals, every good striker undergoes a drought at one point in time or the other,’’ Adepoju told Goal.
''For now it could be difficult for him getting the goals because at Watford, he plays more as a supporting striker but I believe with hardwork and focus especially during training, he will surely get back his form.''
Despite Success’ struggles, he remains a key figure in Mazzarri’s squad and still gets a fair share of action on matchdays despite the January arrivals of M'Baye Niang and Stefano Okaka.

Manchester United to honour electrocuted Nigerians against Swansea

The Red Devils will march out in an unusual outfit on Sunday as they pay respect to fans who died while watching their Europa League match
Manchester United have confirmed that the electrocuted Nigerian fans will be remembered at the Old Trafford when they host Swansea in a league fixture on Sunday

Tragedy struck during the Red Devils' Europa League encounter as Anderlecht as the football fans were electrocuted at Nyagasang, Calabar.
They had gathered at the popular viewing centre when a transformer nearby exploded twice – with a high tension wire dropping on the structure built with zinc.
However, the club has announced that against the Swans, Jose Mourinho's men will wear black armbands to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy.
The  players will wear black armbands on Sunday in memory of the seven fans who lost their lives recently in Calabar, Nigeria.
''The #MUFC players will wear black armbands on Sunday in memory of the seven fans who lost their lives recently in Calabar, Nigeria,'' the club tweeted.
United who played a 0-0 draw against Manchester City on Wednesday need a win against Paul Clement's men to boost their chances of qualifying for next season's Uefa Champions League.

The reported details of actress' marriage troubles

It is no longer news that Mercy Aigbe-Gentry's marriage is in serious trouble.
What might be news, are the details that led to the failure of her seven-year-old marriage to hotelier, Lanre Gentry, and domestic violence is the least of them.
After the 38-year-old actress shared a cryptic Instagram post on domestic violence on Friday, April 28, 2017, saying ‘Say no to promiscuous women,’ many began to wonder if she suffered the same fate as many Nigerian women.
It later came as no surprise when her husband shared a similarly cryptic message via his Instagram page saying, ‘Say no to promiscuous women,’ confirming that something was indeed wrong with their marriage.
ozigizaga blog reports that the couple's marriage was wrought with mutual infidelity, made worse by Gentry's financial crisis.
An anonymous source close to the family reportedly disclosed some details of the disturbed marriage.
"The marriage was destined to break. Mercy Aigbe has been promiscuous all through the marriage and this has caused a strain between them since the beginning.
"Some of us have always known that this would happen someday. A married woman cannot be sleeping about like that. A lot of people thought that after she remarried, she would have calmed down."
The source went on to add that the-mother-of two has maintained amorous relationships throughout the course of her marriage to Gentry.
"Where do you think she gets all her money from, movies? How much do Nigerian actresses make for their movie roles? If you compare it with their luxurious lifestyle, you’ll see that it doesn’t add up.
"Let me give you an example: for someone who likes to travel as much as she does, each trip she takes outside the country takes nothing less than N3million. Take a look at her Instagram posts. She always flies business class. The cheapest amount you can get a business class ticket to Dubai is N900,000. Don’t you see the pictures she posts online? Mr. Gentry simply does not have the funds to foot that bill multiple times a year."

The source also alleged that several politicians known for having actresses as their mistresses have Mercy Aigbe as one of them.
"These are the people that help Mercy maintain the facade of being an A-lister."
On the other end, the report states that Lanre Gentry also had extra-marital affairs. It claims that his hotel "Laveronique" was where he hung out with other women. The source also said that Mr. Gentry isn't having the best of times financially.
"The man has a hotel where Lagos-based actors and actresses use to shoot their movies, but the business was mismanaged and nobody goes there anymore.
"As of now, he doesn’t have any business going on for him. How many wide-mouthed actresses can live with that type of hopelessness? The situation has gotten so bad that now Mercy can openly cavort with the politicians that have been on her case since.
"I’m sure that in no time, her shop in Omole will be shifted to Lekki as she has always dreamed of."

Bayern secure Bundesliga title for fifth time in a row

After crashing out of the DFB-Pokal at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, Carlo Ancelotti's men capitalised on an RB Leipzig draw to wrap up the league
Bayern Munich have been crowned Bundesliga champions for the 27th time, securing the title with a 6-0 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
A goalless draw between second-placed RB Leipzig and Ingostadt earlier in the game meant three points at the Volkswagen Arena would be enough to ensure another league triumph.
David Alaba put Carlo Ancelotti's men in the lead just 19 minutes into the game, before a double from Robert Lewandowski saw them go three ahead at the break. Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich were on target in the second half as Bayern strolled to three points.

The Bavarian side confirmed the title will end up at the Allianz Arena for the fifth year in a row with three games left to go.
It will be the only major piece of silverware for Ancelotti's side this term, as they were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Real Madrid, before Borussia Dortmund beat them after extra-time in the DFB-Pokal semi-final in midweek.
Bayern have never ended a matchday outside of the league's top two this season and have lost just twice in the competition this term, winning 22. They sit 10 points clear of Leipzig and a further six ahead of Dortmund, while they have the best goalscoring and defensive records in the league - scoring 76 and conceding 17.

Messi's Clasico celebration trolled by Espanyol ahead of Barcelona derby date

The Catalan rivals are set to lock horns on Saturday, with the home side eager to point out that they place more emphasis on the team than individuals
Espanyol have taken the opportunity to troll rivals Barcelona and star turn Lionel Messi ahead of Saturday’s derby date.
The Catalan neighbours are set to lock horns at the RCDE Stadium with Barca chasing down
A 3-2 victory in a Clasico clash with Real Madrid has helped to keep them in contention, with two old foes locked together on 78 points – albeit with the Blancos holding a game in hand.
Messi put in another talismanic display to seal a crucial victory for Barca at Santiago Bernabeu, with his stoppage-time winner followed by a celebration which saw a man who had just reached 500 club goals present the name on his shirt to the locals in the Spanish capital.
Espanyol will be hoping to avoid seeing a repeat in their latest outing, but have been quick to point out that whatever happens they will continue to place greater emphasis on the collective over individuals.
“Remember what is important”, says the message on their social media post.
In a clear dig at Messi and Barca the shirt is held up with the club crest facing forwards, rather than the name on the back.

“My Husband Doesn’t Allow Me Cook” – Funke Akindele

Top actress, Funke Akindele in a recent interview with Punch spoke on the downsides of her career, her latest projects, life as a married woman and more.
Read below:
On what she is up to presently:
“I have been filming a new television series called In Da Streetz. It is about the entertainment industry and how people try to survive. It also dwells on the hustle and bustle in the ghetto. It would be full of glitz, glamour and it’s a production that has deep content,’’
“My new project is music-oriented, so I am working with people like K-Switch, Mo-Easy, Lydia Forson, Linda Ejiofor, Tina Mba, Kunle Coker, and Freeze of Cool FM. It is just a group of people coming together to do something different on television through Scene One Productions, where I am the CEO. My mission is for people to enjoy wholesome entertainment.”
“My husband is a pioneer in the music industry, so he has been there. He gave me the storyline and the synopsis which I developed and edited,
On how she switched from law to entertainment:
“I recall that my father wanted me to study Law because he wanted me to become a lawyer. Even though he had his reservations about acting, I was undeterred,”
On her career :
“I am grateful to God for the opportunities that have come my way as an actress. When I started out, it wasn’t easy and there were lots of challenges. I have been acting and producing films before I came out with Jenifa. The movie was a commercial success and following it up with Jenifa’s Dairy, was a like an extension of the goodwill Jenifa, enjoyed.”
On criticisms she received before starting Jenifa series:
“If you have an idea, sleep, eat and drink it until you make a reality of it. Jenifa is a brand that I love so much. I didn’t even want to come up with the series but I realised that a lot of people like the brand. When I go out, I speak to a lot of young people. They like Funke quite alright but when I give them that variant of English, Jenifa is known for, the reaction is priceless,”
On production of  Jenifa’s Dairy:
“I am tired of producing the series because it is time-consuming  but  my husband says that I cannot stop now because my  fans love it, people are celebrating me, I have won awards and every day, they talk about  me because  they are not  tired. People say it’s the best TV series, so I cannot stop.”
On the downsides of acting:
“The gospel group, Mary Mary,  inspires.  Whenever I listen to their songs, I am inspired. One of their songs  goes thus: ‘I just can’t give up now. I’ve come too far from where I started from, nobody told me that road is going to be easy.’ The song teaches me that good things don’t come easy, you just have to push. There are many times when they write about me in the newspapers and magazines. I just say to myself thatit’s not their fault, it’s because I am acting. At such times, I want to quit acting but then, I look into the mirror and say to myself,  you have it in you, don’t give up and bury your talents. This is why I use my talent as a tool to pass messages across to people,’’
On life as a married woman:
“Before I met my husband, I used to work on  Sundays, but he always says that I need to rest. Our chef leaves on Saturday  mornings  to see his family, so whenever  I want to cook, my husband tells me not to do so and we eat out.  We  do that very often. Now, I enjoy my life and  I rest.’’

On her likes and dislikes:
“People call me Margaret Thatcher, because I do not like indiscipline. You must not be rude, we are Nigerians and we have a culture and we are well-trained. I am Yoruba girl, so you have to be respectful. I always tell people that never believe that because you are made, you can bring people down. Even if you are up there, remain level-headed so you don’t fall,’’
