With the rapid rise in e-mail scamming, Faraday Okoro, a Nigerian filmmaker, is taking the legend of the email scams to the big screen.
Faraday competed for a $1 million grant to make a feature film that would have its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next year along with four other filmmakers. They all had 10 minutes to pitch their movie to a jury whose members included Empire writer, Lee Daniels, Jeffrey Wright and Avengers star, Anthony Mackie.
Faraday pitched Nigerian Prince, a movie he said would explore the backstories of Nigerian email scammers. According to Faraday, he had spent the previous night and predawn hours rehearsing every 30 minutes.
