ABS draw a 'turning point' for Gombe United, says Ubale

After clinching a point at the Saraki Boys, the Savannah Scorpions striker believes the result has improved the confidence in the team
Manir Ubale believes that Gombe United's draw at ABS on Wednesday will act as a 'turning point' for the team.
The Gombe outfit secured their first point on the road after Ubale's 54th-minute strike forced Henry Makinwa's side to a 1-1 draw in Ilorin.
"The point we picked up at Ilorin was vital to that turning point we needed. We have gone so close on a couple of occasions but didn't pick a draw or clinch three points," Ubale told Goal.
"It feels good that my goal also nicked a point for us. Now the confidence in the team looks good and I am charging everyone in my team
"It was very tough at the start of the season because we need to gel and improve the understanding in the team.
"But now we are getting better as the league progresses and I am optimistic that we shall continue to remain invincible at home and also replicate our home form on the road."
"Picking up points on the road is very important if we really want to achieve our set target this season."

Lepacious Bose Comes For Critics Over Seyi Law’s Daughter’s Weight

Popular Nigerian comedienne, Lepacious Bose who lost 70kg in weight within the spate of one year and half took to her Instagram to express her displeasure to those cyber bullying Seyi Law’s baby, Tiwa.
She wrote:
“So I woke up this morning seeing posts of people who are speaking up against ignorant people insulting Tiwaloluwa @seyilaw1 ‘s baby.
If the negative comments were about Seyi himself I will not say a word, he can handle himself, but for people to use words like obese, fat, ugly on a 6 months old baby is taking body shaming to a whole new level.
When did we become this mean and evil, is it in the water we are now drinking or the side effects of the radiation in mobile phones, is it a social media madness???? I don’t get it? She’s just 6 months old for crying out loud and bitter and evil words are already thrown at her, how heartless. Pls what weightloss recipe do you have for a 6 months old, what exercise routines should she be doing ooo? All these ITK
Talking of exercises she went swimming yesterday ooo that is to show her parents know how to take care of their own child, abeg take care of yours.
This is how low self esteem starts, people will say evil things like your daughter is so black, you son is cutter than your daughter, why is your son so slow etc….it is evil and wicked!!! Most times those who say these crude things don’t have their own kids yet, because if you do you will know how it feels to hear hateful things about your child.
And don’t tell me it’s @seyilaw1 who put her picture out there, she’s his baby, he is proud of her and why not? Is that a crime? Is he the first person to celebrate his baby? If you have issues with Seyi., take it up with him not with this darling little angel. Pls let’s stop cyber bullying it’s not right.
Let’s stop body shaming.
By the way, this is my favorite Tiwa picture and I think she’s verrrrry cute.
Am so pained right now!!! #Godblesstiwa”

How does Wenger solve Arsenal conundrum with there no logical explanation for sorry slump?

The Gunners have suffered a humbling fall from grace over recent weeks, but why have they dropped off to pile pressure on their beleaguered manager?
January 22, 2017: Down to 10 men, pegged back by an Andre Gray penalty in the 93rd minute and with Arsene Wenger embroiled in a childish shoving contest with the fourth official after being sent from the touchline, Arsenal were not in a happy place.
In the 98th minute, though, the Gunners were awarded a penalty, Alexis Sanchez converted and three points were snatched from a dogged Burnley side – few could have accused the hosts of not caring on an emotionally-charged afternoon in north London.
At the final whistle, the home side had stretched their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions and were celebrating a fourth victory in five Premier League outings – with a remarkable comeback from three goals down at Bournemouth representing the only blot on that particular copybook.
Wenger told the BBC afterwards: “Every week and every game is an unbelievable fight for everybody.”
Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey had previously said of a title race being dominated by Chelsea, but a battle Arsenal were still very much in: “It’s going to go right down to the wire and we don’t want to have any slip ups which might cost us in the end.”
February 4, 2017: A mere two weeks after battling their way past Burnley to keep optimism building around the Emirates, Arsenal trudged off the field at Stamford Bridge having been second best throughout against capital foes Chelsea.
Four days earlier, a terrible start against Watford had condemned Wenger’s team to a 2-1 defeat in a contest which can now be regarded as offering the first signs of the wheels falling off the Arsenal bandwagon.
March 18, 2017: Progress has been made to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, but the Gunners find themselves in a dark place as Tony Pulis once again proves that he holds an Indian sign over Wenger in a 3-1 victory for West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Arsenal are now at their lowest ebb, with a humbling 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich having seen their Champions League dreams crushed at the last 16 stage for the seventh successive year, while four defeats in five Premier League fixtures have cast serious doubt over their involvement in that competition for 2017-18.
There is, of course, mounting unrest off the field to take into account as well, with feelings of frustration regarding the direction the club is taking under Wenger that have been left simmering for several years suddenly coming back to the boil – with protests taken from the streets to the sky.

'Can Chicago win the World Cup?' - Schweinsteiger confused by ill-educated journos at Fire unveiling

The former Bayern star seemed a little confused by some of the questions he received as he was introduced to Chicago media.
How big a deal is Bastian Schweinsteiger in Chicago right now?
Well, let's just say he's big enough to pull in the top media outlets to his introductory press conference, even if covering soccer isn't exactly what they do.
As the Fire introduced the German World Cup and Champions League winner as the newest member of their club, he was treated to a question he really wasn't sure how to deal with.
"I wonder, with your addition to this team, is it a fair expectation to see a clear pathway towards a World Cup competition to come out of Chicago?" a reporter asked.
First, the wording is a little curious and there's room for some ambiguity, there. The midfielder simply looked confused and turned to Fire boss Veljko Paunovic for some clarity. After discusions on stage lead them to believe he was being asked about the Club World Cup, the German seemed ready to answer.
However, wanting to make sure the question was clear, the reporter rephrased.
"Do you expect now that you're here, Bastian, that a World Cup goal for Chicago Fire is a realisitic expectation?"
Schweinsteiger handled it all with class, aside from a hearty chuckle, letting club general manager Nelson Rodriguez explain that the Fire do not compete for the World Cup before going on to answer a question - posed by Rodriguez - about MLS Cup expectations.

Mourinho: I would be happy for Ibrahimovic if he leaves

The Swedish striker has an option for a second year at Old Trafford, but his coach says he understands if he wants to look for a new challenge
Jose Mourinho says he would be happy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his family if the forward decides to leave Manchester United.
Ibrahimovic is in discussions with United over an extension to his stay at Old Trafford, having signed an initial one-year deal prior to the 2016-17 season.
The former Sweden captain has been a big success, scoring 26 goals in all competitions, including a match-winning double in the EFL Cup final against Southampton.
While Mourinho is hoping to keep Ibrahimovic, he will hold no grudges if the 35-year-old opts to depart as the wait for the striker to decide whether to take up his option for a further season goes on.
"I am just calm and waiting for the decision," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
"If the decision is for him to stay and he is happy with that, we are delighted with that.
"If his decision is to leave and try to find a different challenge, I will be also happy for him.
"He is [a big part of our success this season], but the human being is more important than the player and the team.
"If his decision is to leave and try to be happy with his family and have a different reality, so be it."

LA Galaxy and Napoli have been among the clubs liked with Ibrahimovic, who is suspended for Saturday's home Premier League game against West Brom.

'Even Jesus did not please everyone' - Ronaldo artist defends sculpture of Madrid star

The unveiling of a piece of work to honour the Portuguese superstar at Madeira airport has caused quite a stir, but the forward is said to be a fan
The artist behind a much-maligned sculpture of Cristiano Ronaldo claims the Real Madrid superstar is happy with the design.
An unveiling at Madeira airport on Wednesday caused quite a stir, with the design being questioned by many.
Ronaldo was on hand to pass judgement on the work, though, and was happy to pose for photographs as he was honoured by the island on which he grew up.
Emanuel Santos, creator of the piece, insists the 32-year-old also gave his approval before the grand reveal, with the Euro 2016 winner clearly not overly concerned by the opinion of others.
"Even Jesus did not please everyone. This is a matter of taste, it’s not as simple as it seems," Santos said in an interview with Portuguese website Globo Sports.
"I used photos of Cristiano Ronaldo that I searched on the internet as a base. I put the photos next to me and started working on the bust.
“What matters is the impact that this work generates. There is always the possibility of making a difference, I was prepared for all this."
Santos added: “Cristiano saw the photos that his brother sent him. I was with the brother at Cristiano’s museum in Madeira and from the messages he sent, I could tell that he liked what he saw."
While not addressing the issue of the sculpture directly, Ronaldo did speak of his delight at seeing his achievements recognised in his native Portugal.
He said: "Seeing my name being given to this airport is something very special, everyone knows that I am proud of my country and especially my home city.
"Thank you very much to the president of the regional government Miguel Albuquerque for having had the courage and the firmness to do it."
The 32-year-old later posted on Twitter: "Happy and honored to have my name given to the Madeira airport!"
The tribute has also been welcomed by Portugal’s president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, with Ronaldo considered to be “an example of excellence [that] projects Madeira and Portugal across the world far more than anybody else."
Ronaldo is the current holder of the prestigious Ballon d’Or crown – a title has now claimed on four occasions – while his efforts in Madrid this season have delivered 26 goals to domestic and Champions League campaigns.

Victor Anichebe's return will boost Sunderland, says Darron Gibson

The midfielder claims the Black Cats desperately need the services of the Nigeria international to turn their poor run in the league around
Sunderland’s Darron Gibson is confident that Victor Anichebe’s return from injury will turn his side’s poor run in the English Premier League around.
The Black Cats sit at the base of the English topflight table with 20 points from 28 league games and the former Everton midfielder says the 28-year-old forward’s ability to keep the ball is what David Moyes’ men needed to return to winning ways.
“Getting Catts back will be important,” Gibson told SunderlandEcho.
“He has a lot of experience, he is a good leader on the pitch while Victor’s ability to hold the ball up will be a big positive for us.

‘Our decision to seek legal redress is not a selfish one, the industry has been plagued with similar issues and in taking this stand, we hope that we speak for all established and aspiring creative who are struggling to get their voice heard. Victory in this will be victory for the industry and will foster a safer environment for the sharing of ideas.

Wilfred Ndidi's incredible assist from centre-back led him to become a Premier League star

The Nigeria international almost fell out of the game, but one moment of magic convinced scouts to invite him for a trial in Europe
Wilfred Ndidi has become an important player for both Leicester City and Nigeria, but he could have ended up not making it in the professional game, if it wasn't for a moment of inspiration during his youth career.
The 20-year-old recently completed a £17 million move from Genk to Leicester City in January and he has since gone onto vindicate his decision to stay in football, despite being told by his father that he would be better off studying.
Ndidi, who is currently away with the Nigeria national team, revealed that he was the only one of 500 boys to be invited for a trial at Genk, who sent scouts to watch a Nigerian football tournament. As a central defender, it took an impressive assist, rather than a goal, to earn him his call up to play in Belgian first division.
"I didn’t score [to impress Genk], I was actually playing in central defence," Ndidi told Goal. "I was told not to play long balls, so I just made a one-two and another one-two and then I gave a pass, made an assist.
"I was the only one selected out of 40 teams, 500 players. I had to go and do trials in Genk after that. Then I did the trials in Genk, After a year, they gave me a contract.
"It was difficult [coming to Europe] but I stayed with a family who tried to make me feel like I was at home. It was the time of the trial. So when I came home every day I felt like part of the family, it felt like home and made it easier."
Nigeria suffered disappointment by missing out on the African Cup of Nations qualification, but are hoping to rectify it by qualifying for the World Cup using a young squad that includes Ndidi.
Arsenal's Alex Iwobi and Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho are just two more young stars that Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr is looking to, while Ndidi is positive about his inclusion within the Nigeria set up.
"I always wanted to play for my country. I feel good, I feel so much fun in the national team," Added Ndidi. "I like seeing my friends and I feel good here but I never see myself as a very important player.
"I have always said to myself, anywhere I go, I can be replaced. So I just try to keep doing my very best. Keep focused. [The squad] have a lot in common. There’s a lot of guys around the team who are my ages so communication is easy.

Argentina star Messi slapped with four-game ban hours before Bolivia clash

The Barcelona forward will miss the match in La Paz on Tuesday evening and three more World Cup qualifiers after that after abusing an official
Lionel Messi will miss Argentina's World Cup qualifier against Bolivia after being slapped with a four-game ban for a foul-mouthed rant at a match official.
The decision was communicated to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) just hours before their match in La Paz on Tuesday evening.

It followed an incident towards the end of the Albiceleste's 1-0 victory over Chile last week, when the Barcelona star scored the only goal from the penalty spot.

The 29-year-old was penalised for a foul and proceeded to wave his arms and shout insults at the referee's assistant Marcelo van Gasse, with whom he refused to shake hands at the final whistle.
It was not initially recorded in referee Sandro Ricci's report but was followed up by FIFA after video footage of Messi's insult emerged. Both the officials and the AFA were subsequently asked for their observations.
Messi has been fined 10,000 Swiss francs (£8,100) and will also miss World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay, Venezuela and Peru before returning for the final match against Ecuador.
"This decision reflects the consistent case law that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has applied in previous and similar cases," a FIFA statement reads.
Four South American teams are guaranteed a place at the finals and a fifth can also progress by winning an intercontinental play-off tie against a team from Oceania.
Argentina currently sit third in the regional table but are only two points ahead of Chile, who are the first team out of the qualifying spots in sixth.
Messi is one of five players suspended for the visit to Bolivia after Nicolas Otamendi, Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia and Gonzalo Higuain picked up yellow cards against Chile.
To compound coach Edgardo Bauza's selection headache, Gabriel Mercado and Emmanuel Mas both suffered injuries in that match.
More encouraging for Argentina, however, is the fact that Bolivia have lost 10 of their 13 qualifiers so far despite their well-documented altitude advantage at Estadio Hernando Siles, which is one of the highest stadiums in the world at 3,637 metres above sea level.

Seyi Law is a Nigerian Comedian who welcomed his first child, Tiwaloluwa on October 1, 2016 after years of marriage.
The comedian always replies negative comments by trolls about the weight of his healthy daughter and this morning he took to his Instagram page to address the people who leave terrible comments on her pictures.
He said:
“On another note, why do people think I should stop posting my family’s pictures because of some untrained and understanding deprived individuals? Some think I am angry or bitter, please I am a comedian having fun. If you call my baby UGLY, I won’t reply because BEAUTY is in the eye of the beholder so their CATARACT infected eyes might not see. Tell me she is FAT, of course picture can be deceptive, but the moment you go to WEIGHT, you are calling for wrath because that can only be decided by measurement.
My baby visits the hospital monthly for check up and you think you will be the person to tell me of a danger before her doctors, abeg carry that your GUTTER SOAKAWAY smelling mouth out of here.
Now that I know my baby is a thorn in the brains of some idiots, BILLBOARDS are coming soon to celebrate her 1ST BIRTHDAY, please don’t be afraid to snap beside them and post. Those who understand the gravity of what I cherish, may God cause you to enjoy greater blessings than He has given me and to those who think otherwise and feel they have derogatory opinions on my LOVELY DAUGHTER, may GOD make your wait longer and give you exactly what you see in my daughter negatively. Amen.
Have a fun filled day as I go to enjoy an Anniversary time out with my family. Stay tune for pictures tomorrow.”

Fatai Amoo wants improved Super Eagles

The Oluyole Warriors’ coach has charged the senior national team to correct mistakes made against the Terenga Lions in future games
Shooting Stars’ head coach, Fatai Amoo has charged the Super Eagles to improve on the lapses noticed in their international friendly with Senegal when they resume for the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in June and subsequent matches.
The Eagles came back from a goal down scored in the 53rd minute through Mamadou Sow before Kelechi Iheanacho's penalty rescued Gernot Rohr's men from defeat.
“We were unable to watch the match live but feelers from the game indicated that our opponents (Senegal) scored through defensive mistake and that they were more effective in the midfield than our boys,'' Amoo told Goal.
''We can’t afford to make those mistakes during the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers and we must try to correct them in the second friendly game on Monday and other subsequent games. It will be painful to miss another Nations Cup and we must put our act together to ensure that we pick a ticket this time.
“We have a good lead at the top of our group in the World Cup qualifiers. We must consolidate on this and ensure that the Cameroonians do not hit us by surprise when they visit us here.
''Our World Cup hopes will hinge on the result we produce in the first leg of the double header and only adequate preparations will help us out.''

'He will end up at Real Madrid or Barca' - Mbappe tipped to snub Man Utd by Fabinho

The teenage forward has been backed to make a move to a La Liga heavyweight, rather than a Premier League giant, by a current team-mate at Monaco
In-demand Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe “will end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona”, according to team-mate Fabinho.
The 18-year-old, who was handed his senior international debut for France on Saturday, continues to draw admiring glances from Europe’s top clubs.
Reports suggest that Manchester United have already seen a record-breaking offer turned down for the teenage sensation, with the Red Devils eager to add him to their Premier League ranks.
Jose Mourinho is, however, set to face competition from his former employers in Spain if a transfer scramble breaks out.
And Fabinho believes that it is United who will be left disappointed once Mbappe takes the decision to leave his homeland.
He told Chuteira FC: “We know that sooner or later he will end up at Real Madrid, Barcelona or a club of that calibre,”’ said Fabinho.
“But so long as he is still with us, we are going to profit from that!”
Fabinho added: "Mbappe's tremendous.
"For an 18-year-old, he has such maturity both on and off the pitch. He's playing a decisive role and scoring lots of goals.
"For someone his age playing in the level of competitions that we're playing in, that's not easy. And I haven't even mentioned how quick he is."
Mbappe has 19 goals in 32 appearances for Monaco this season, with that return including two hat-tricks and important efforts home and away against Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“Davido Does Not Use Protection” – Labinjo, Singer’s Baby Mama Alleges

Mother of one, Ayomide Labinjo who had alleged that pop singer, Davido, is the father of her three-year-old child, Anuoluwapo has disclosed that the duo would not have been in their current situation if he had agreed to use a condom.
When asked why she would allow anybody to have unprotected sex with her, Ayomide alleged that the singer was not a fan of wearing condoms during sex as she recounted in details what allegedly transpired the two times she alleged they had sex.
The young lady claimed, “The reason I slept with him the first time we met was because I just wanted to catch my fun. The day we met at the club, Ebevande, I was with my friends, I did not really know him then but I just knew he was an artiste. I went out with my female friends; we had like a ladies night out; then one of his bouncers came to meet me and told me that his boss wanted to see me. I actually thought it was the owner of the club that wanted to see me. When I got to where they were, I noticed that it was David and he was with B. Red. I greeted both of them, B. Red did not respond but David did and we talked. He collected my pin and asked me to return to my seat. When they were about to leave, the bouncer came to meet me again and informed me that they wanted to leave. My friends thought we were all going together but when we all got to the car, he asked my friends to go back. He said that I was the one he wanted to see.“We went to the Genesis Hotel. When we got to the room, we talked for a long while before we had sex. He is a very jovial person and he loves talking. He made me laugh a lot and we talked at length. B. Red was in the other room. I insisted that he should protect himself by wearing a condom before sex but he refused. He said that he does HIV test every two weeks. Then I asked him how sure he was that I did not have any disease but he said he was very sure I did not have a disease. After he had said all that, I told him to just do what he wanted to do and allow me go home in the morning. That night, he had sex with me twice. You would know he was in the mood to have sex that night and it lasted for a while. He has a big manhood and it hurt me a little. The second time was when he noticed I was leaving in the morning and he just wanted to have sex with me again.
“The second time, the sex did not last long because he was very tired and he did not even know when I left the hotel. I do not drink or smoke but David drinks and smokes. He drank and smoked in the club” she alleged.
Labinjo further stated that she was shocked that Davido said he gave her money as she claimed she had never received a dime from the singer since they met. In her words, she described the self-acclaimed Omo Baba Olowo as “a very stingy person.”
“I saw where he said he sent money to my family and that is a lie. The question I would ask is that what account did he pay the money into? He should bring out the bank teller. He has never given me money. If they said they have given me money, there would be a record or evidence and they should bring it out. Even when we had sex, he never gave me money for transport. David is a very stingy person and I would not be the first person saying this. I have heard it from different girls, David is very stingy,” she said.
When asked if she was certain that the pop star is the father of her child, she answered in the affirmative. She claimed as of the time they met, she did not have a boyfriend and she is not one to jump from one bed to another.
Labinjo said, “I am very sure he is the father of my child because I did not have a boyfriend when we met. I had some male friends but it was just a platonic relationship I had with them and nothing serious. I don’t jump from one bed to another and that is why I am very bold and certain that he is the father of my child. If I had been sleeping around, I would not be that bold to talk.”
She was quick to add that all she wanted was for the singer to step forward for another DNA test. Labinjo said that even if the result shows that Davido is the father of her child, she doubts mutual love would co-exist between them because of the way he has treated her all these years.
The mother of one also hinted that the matter may soon be taken to court.
“I just want him to take up his responsibility but I heard he is not ready for another DNA. My mother has gone to a lawyer and we would eventually go to court because I know we have a good case. I was told that even if David does not want to step out for a DNA, any of his siblings could step in for him. Once everything is settled, I just want him to take care of his daughter but there cannot be mutual love between us. Even the way he talks to me cannot allow for mutual love,” she said.

Plateau United set sight on MFM's spot

The Peace Boys will be aiming to return to the summit when they host the Saraki Boys, while the Olukoya Boys travel to the Savannah Scorpions in a bid to preserve their lead
Plateau United Vs ABS FC
One of the biggest clashes of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 15 takes place at the Rwang Pam Stadium as Plateau United seek to get back to the summit when they take on ABS FC.
The visitors, placed fifth in the table, are in good form but considering the stats, the Peace Boys are expected to emerge victorious in Jos.
Gombe United Vs MFM FC
On paper, log-leaders, MFM are heavy favourites against Gombe United as they are currently unbeaten in their past five matches. In contrast, the Savannah Scorpions have failed to win their last three games.
Sunday’s encounter is likely to be a low-scoring one as a draw for the Olukoya Boys would mean they retain the top spot for another week. While Manu Garba’s men will be looking to avoid a defeat against the best team in the division.
Enyimba Vs Rivers United
Enyimba supporters have the feeling that their darling team is back to form following a hard earned 1-1 draw with ABS in Ilorin last Sunday.
From title favourites to relegation battlers, Rivers United are feeling the pressure of combining league and continental assignments.
The People's Elephants and the Pride of Rivers are in dire need of a win considering their run of results. The two sides have been less impressive.
Therefore, this will be a battle between two wounded lions in an electrifying atmosphere. Rivers seem to have run out of ideas at the moment and their morale is seemingly low. Enyimba are likely to edge this at the UJ Esuene Stadium.
Abia Warriors Vs Kano Pillars
Kano Pillars have played some extraordinary football in their past five matches and thus, secured three wins. They have scored seven goals and conceded five goals in the process.
Abia Warriors are also a side playing some good football at the moment. In their last four matches, they secured two wins and two draws.
Both teams faced difficulties in the past, but they have successfully overcome those situations. The Ucendu Babes recent run is likely to intimidate many sides in the topflight, but Pillars’ form shows clearly that they are not one of those.
