The midfielder claims the Black Cats desperately need the services of the Nigeria international to turn their poor run in the league around
Sunderland’s Darron Gibson is confident that Victor Anichebe’s return from injury will turn his side’s poor run in the English Premier League around.
The Black Cats sit at the base of the English topflight table with 20 points from 28 league games and the former Everton midfielder says the 28-year-old forward’s ability to keep the ball is what David Moyes’ men needed to return to winning ways.
“Getting Catts back will be important,” Gibson told SunderlandEcho.
“He has a lot of experience, he is a good leader on the pitch while Victor’s ability to hold the ball up will be a big positive for us.
“Hopefully we can get them back after the international break and things will start going our way.
“He can be unplayable when he is on form so hopefully he comes back from America and is flying.”
