The teenage forward has been backed to make a move to a La Liga heavyweight, rather than a Premier League giant, by a current team-mate at Monaco
In-demand Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe “will end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona”, according to team-mate Fabinho.
The 18-year-old, who was handed his senior international debut for France on Saturday, continues to draw admiring glances from Europe’s top clubs.
Reports suggest that Manchester United have already seen a record-breaking offer turned down for the teenage sensation, with the Red Devils eager to add him to their Premier League ranks.
Jose Mourinho is, however, set to face competition from his former employers in Spain if a transfer scramble breaks out.
And Fabinho believes that it is United who will be left disappointed once Mbappe takes the decision to leave his homeland.
He told Chuteira FC: “We know that sooner or later he will end up at Real Madrid, Barcelona or a club of that calibre,”’ said Fabinho.
“But so long as he is still with us, we are going to profit from that!”
Fabinho added: "Mbappe's tremendous.
"For an 18-year-old, he has such maturity both on and off the pitch. He's playing a decisive role and scoring lots of goals.
"For someone his age playing in the level of competitions that we're playing in, that's not easy. And I haven't even mentioned how quick he is."
Mbappe has 19 goals in 32 appearances for Monaco this season, with that return including two hat-tricks and important efforts home and away against Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League.
