FORMER Minister of State for Defence and governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has said that plans to give the party’s governorship ticket to a new entrant in PDP would fail, noting that the party requires a mainstream party faithful to fly its flag at the polls.

He also noted that his supporters would not be distracted in the face of attempts at ensuring that he did not participate in the primaries.
Obanikoro, who stated this yesterday in Lagos at an interactive session with his supporters, also visited the state secretariat of the party where he formally notified the state executive members of his intention to participate in the race.
His words: ‘PDP is greater than individuals. My message is for all of you to remain focused and not to be distracted. All the antagonism against us will not stop us from fulfilling our promise to Lagosians. I don’t want you to allow yourselves to be affected by the things going on in Lagos PDP today.
Most of you, who have followed my political history, should know that there has always been opposition against us, but I have continued to emerge victorious. All great men pass through challenges. The claims that they have all the powers is baseless.
We are all residents of Lagos and know that they are not speaking for Lagosians. They are not interested in any election, all they want is to sit down and write results. It is very unfortunate that things are turning out this way.’’
