Stop denying your wife, Adokiye tells Kcee

Seductively beautiful singer, Adokiye Kyrian who has just released the video of her single ‘Back Up’ never steered too far away from the news not because she loves reading about herself in the papers but because she is very opinionated and could not turn her back on things she considers disgusting to her person and principles as a person.

Adokiye
The 23-year old singer has said she is not happy with the way the ‘Limpopo’ crooner, Kcee has been making a mess of his wife in the pages of newspapers and on social media. “
Only in Nigeria a guy will marry and when he makes money he turns his wife  into a slave. Look at Kcee, the musician. He is lucky he is not married to someone like me, I would have called on the gods of my village to strike him down for me,” She began.
“ Some guys  in Nigeria are so irresponsible and it drives me insane and sometimes I wonder if  ever I would want anything with a Nigerian guy. I am too scared of what our generation has become.
When I say turning his wife into a slave, I mean by denying her publicly. It is something too wrong for a responsible man to do. I fear if these young men are truly the people that would become leaders of tomorrow. People who deny their families?”  She queried
When she was reminded that Kcee has said in the past that he is legally married to his wife, Ijeoma Okonkwo, the actress rebutted : “ I wonder why someone that is officially married would do that. Kcee says he is not married in a story I read and he explained why he is not married. I pray he is happily married as you said he once claimed”

Actress Speaks Candidly About Her Crashed Marriage

Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim opens up about her divorce for the first time ever. She discusses all the factors that led to its break down.
The Ghanaian beauty in an interview withUduak Oduoko of Ladybrille.com explained that marrying early, family influence and lies all led to the failure of her short lived marriage.
The actress who got married at 24 years of age is 28 now and divorced blamed her in-laws for poisoning her ex-husbands mind about her profession as actress, insinuating infidelity rumours.
The actress and entrepreneur had this to say:
"My personal failure will be my marriage because I am divorced now… I got married at age 24. We were happy, young people in love but we really didn’t get a chance to really know ourselves. . . somewhere along the line, family members kept coming in saying “oh no, she’s an actress” I will be there and people will be saying all kinds of stuff and sending him messages saying I am in another man’s car even though I was right there with him''
Juliet who used to be married to Kwadwo Safo has dropped his surname. The estranged couple had a child together.

NPFL Week 29 Round Up: Enyimba, Heartland end goalless

The oriental derby between Enyimba and Heartland ended in a stalemate as it failed to live up to the pre-match hype no thanks to the heavy rainfall at the Aba Stadium
ENUGU RANGERS 1-0 FC TARABA
The Flying Antelopes scrapped to a narrow 1-0 win over troubled Jalingo Boys at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

It was the fourth straight game that the Coal City giants have played without defeat having recorded back to back wins over Dolphins and Warri Wolves, then a draw against Abia Warriors to a goalless draw in Umuahia..
Samuel Agba's goal in the closing stages of the first half was what the home team needed to improve their points haul to 41 from 29 games. FC Taraba by the virtue of the defeat are now 19th on the log with 34 points 29 matches.

SUNSHINE STARS 0-0 AKWA UNITED

The Akure Gunners failed to capitalise on their impressive away draw in Jalingo as they allowed Akwa United to get a share of the spoils at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday evening.
Akwa United went into the tie after a 2-0 home win over Giwa FC and they have vowed to pick at least a draw in Akure which they eventually did despite the volatile atmosphere towards the end of the Week 29 tango.
Sunshine Stars have 42 points from 29 games while the Promise Keepers improved to 43 points from as many games.

GIWA FC 2-0 BAYELSA UNITED

The Jos Elephant plunged the Restoration Boys back into the relegation zone after losing to the  premier league newcomers 2-0 at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.
Chris Madaki shot Giwa FC in the lead as early as the sixth minute before David Nnoke slotted home the second in the 65th minute.
Giwa FC jumped to joint fourth alongside Nasarawa United with same 44 points from 29 matches each. They have same goals difference of +5 while Bayelsa United are 16th with 36 points from same number of matches.

KANO PILLARS 3-0 LOBI STARS

The Sai Masu Gida have opened up a five point gap between them and their closest rivals, Dolphins after an emphatic 3-0 home win over the Makurdi Bombers at the Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari on Sunday evening.
Theophilus Afelokhai in goal for the home team gave his team the curtain raiser from the penalty spot after the centre referee adjudged that Azeez Shobowale was fouled in the 18 yard box. Shobowale and Ubong Ekpai increased the tally further as the Kano side rolled over their opponents this term.
The game was 1-1 apiece when it was played last season after Pillars' Rabiu Ali lost a dying minute spot kick but this term, there was no hiding place for Lobi Stars.
Pillars have 50 points from 29 games and are in cruise control to win a straight third league title at the end of the season to become the second to achieve the feat after Enyimba. Lobi slide down to mid table with 41 points from as many matches.

ENYIMBA FC 0-0 HEARTLAND FC

It was supposed to be highlight of the Premier League Week 29 matches but the heavy downpour in the town of Aba for the past four days to the encounter didn't allow the game to live up to the pre-match hype.
Both players played under a waterlogged pitch which didn't allow the fans to enjoy a free flow of soccer. The latest home draw against the Naze Millionaires might have ended the People's Elephant's title ambition but it is still too early to push Enyimba out of the challenge as they still have a way of springing surprises when least expected.
Enyimba remain third with 44 points from 29 games but could slide down further if Warri Wolves beat Abia Warriors in the delayed match fixed for Monday morning after heavy rain on Sunday in Warri. Heartland on their own part have 41 points from 29 games.

NEMBE CITY 1-1 CROWN FC

Nembe City have put themselves in further insecure position having played a 1-1 draw against their direct relegation zone battlers, Crown FC at Omoku.
The Yenagoa side had to come back from a goal down before pulling a sensational draw six minutes from full time through Tolumoye Tonkmor.
The Ajilete Boys had drawn the first blood through Onyekachi Okafor in the 71st minute but they were unable to get the match needed away win.
Nembe City have 25 points from 26 games with two outstanding games against Giwa FC and Lobi Stars while Crown are on 34 points from 28 games.

EL KANEMI WARRIORS 1-1 SHARKS FC

The Maiduguri side faltered again at home after they couldn't make home advantage count against the Blue Angels at the Kano Pillars Stadium in the first of the double header decided on Sunday afternoon.
Sharks who are making a late resurgence on the league log after some dreaded results recently shot into the lead through Salawo Ibrahim in the 13th minute but former Lobi Stars' Emma Ajia made sure honours are evened two minutes into the second half.
El Kanemi have 40 points from 29 games while Sharks are on 42 points from the same number of matches.

KADUNA UNITED 3-0 GOMBE UNITED

The Crocodile Boys are still defying all odds to keep themselves competitive in the premier league despite being owed close to a year salary arrears among other bonuses. They did lose 3-0 to Sharks in their last league encounter but it was because they arrived Port Harcourt very late for the encounter.
They had stormed the Kaduna government house to seek audience with the governor last week just a day after they defeated Crown FC 5-0 in a league tie.
Arinze Nwankwo and Musa Suleiman were among the goals scorers and the win lifted Kaduna United above the relegation zone to 15th spot with 36 points from as many games. The loss meant that Gombe United strayed back to the bottom half with 35 points from 29 games.

DOLPHINS 2-1 NASARAWA UNITED

Emem Eduok and Chizoba Amaefula showed they were in the best form of their lives after they both netted for the Pride of Port Harcourt in their 2-1 slim home win over Nasarawa United at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia on Sunday.
Both players scored both goals in the Dolphins' last home 2-0 win over Gombe United last Sunday in a Week 27 tie while Eduok was also on the scorer's chart in his side's 1-3 loss to Warri Wolves last Wednesday.
It was a precious win for Dolphins as it has taken them to second spot on the log for the first time in recent times as they have now gathered 45 points from 29 games.
Nasarawa United on their part went down to fourth with 44 points from 29 games.

Hamburg´s task gets no easier, Bayern battle Hannover

Josef Zinnbauer's task as new Hamburg boss does not get any easier when he takes the rock-bottom side to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Zinnbauer – the club's former under-23 coach – replaced Mirko Slomka in the top job at Hamburg last month.
And while Zinnbauer's arrival coincided with a goalless draw against two-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, a loss at the second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach was followed by a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt last week.
Hamburg – who beat second-tier Greuther Furth on away goals in last term's relegation play-off – dominated for much of their home clash against Frankfurt, only to lose to Lucas Piazon's stunning stoppage-time free-kick.
And a trip to Dortmund, who have finished in the top two for the last four years, means Zinnbauer's men will have to be at their best to claim their first win of the season.
Hamburg director Dietmar Beiersdorfer is convinced, that in Zinnbauer, that the club have the right man for the job.
"Joe is doing a very good job and is very emotionally involved," Biersdorfer told Hamburg's official website.
"You can see that something is stirring. He sends a team out after talking a lot of sense to them.
"The situation is difficult...we are in bottom place. Now everyone at the club and inside that dressing room must invest even more effort."
Hamburg will take heart from Dortmund's patchy recent form, which has seen them fail to win any of their last three league matches.
A 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Schalke last week saw them drop to 12th – a position that is unlikely to last for long.
Hannover's bright start to the season has faded somewhat, with two losses in their last three, and they head to Munich to face a Bayern side who have hammered them in recent times.
Bayern have won the last six clashes between the two sides, scoring 23 goals in the process, while they have netted four or more against Hannover on six occasions since 2009.
Leaders Bayern are two points ahead of Monchengladbach, who host the fourth-placed Mainz on Sunday in a meeting between two of the four remaining unbeaten sides.
At the other end of the table, just one point ahead of Hamburg are Werder Bremen, who take on fellow strugglers Freiburg.
Stuttgart won for the first time last week and battle Hertha Berlin on Friday, while Cologne will aim to end a winless run of four against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen meet Paderborn, Hoffenheim face Schalke and Wolfsburg take on Augsburg.

Prandelli urges daring approach

Galatasaray coach Cesare Prandelli has urged his side to "be brave" in their UEFA Champions League clash at Arsenal on Wednesday.
The stakes will be high for Arsenal in the Group F match, given their 2-0 loss at Borussia Dortmund on matchday one.
Galatasaray fared slightly better, drawing 1-1 with Anderlecht, but would be expected to sit back at Arsenal.
Prandelli does not want his side to do that, though, and while he concedes Arsenal are likely to control possession, he wants the Turkish Super Lig outfit to attack their opponents.
"We believe that we have to be brave," Prandelli said.
"I believe we don't know what we can actually achieve. We can improve from today onwards.
"In our first match [against Anderlecht], we played very well. We played aggressively. Wednesday will be a different game.
"We are playing against a quality, experienced team at their ground. They will try to come into our half and hold the possession. We will try to play our own game."

The Delta football supremo has emerged as the new head of the Nigerian game after an election in Warri on Tuesday afternoon that saw him edge out Iorfa, Ogunjobi and others
Delta State Sports Association head Amaju Pinnick has emerged the president of the Nigeria Football Federation after an election held in Warri on Tuesday afternoon.
His emergence is expected to bring an end to the rigmarole in the country’s football sector that has earned the ire of Fifa over the last four months.

Beyonce and hubby Jay Z shun Paris Fashion Week parties to watch footy with David Beckham

Watch out Paris! Beyonce and Jay Z are in town.
Paris Fashion Week is nearing the end after a sensational week packed-full of top end designer treats and Beyonce and her hubby Jay Z have only just arrived. But it seems there weren't there for the fashion.
The power couple weren't spotted on any FROWs, but they were enjoying corporate hospitality with David Beckham while watching his former club, PSG, taken on Barcelona at Parc des Princes this evening.

David sat next to sport lover Jay Z and was spotted having a chat with both of the stylish stars, while he was also joined by his best pal and football agent Dave Gardner.
No doubt the couple will be checking in to PFW on its last day tomorrow, with shows set for Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Miu Miu.
The couple were last in Paris for their On The Run joint tour, when they performed at the Stade de France on two nights, closing their joint venture - as well as filming it for an HBO special.
Beyonce looked far from concerned about recent comments made by Annie Lennox in which she described the Single Ladies hitmaker as "feminist lite".
The Why singer has slammed Beyonce for describing herself as a feminist, adding many artists even use the term to promote their careers.
The Eurythmics frotnwoman hit out at the 33-year-old singer for proclaiming herself a feminist during her set at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, saying the term shouldn't be thrown around.
Annie told website PrideSource: "I would call that 'feminist lite'. L-I-T-E. I'm sorry. It's tokenistic to me. I mean, I think she's a phenomenal artist - I just love her performances - but I'd like to sit down [with her].
"I think I'd like to sit down with quite a few artists and talk to them. I'd like to listen to them; I'd like to hear what they truly think.

Okorocha, Chime ask Nigerians to resist selfish politicians

GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday, called on Nigerians to resist attempts by unscrupulous politicians promoting religious and primodial sentiments to divide the country for personal aggrandisement as Nigeria marks her 54th Independence anniversary today.
Similarly, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu implored Nigerians to use the independence anniversary to embrace a new spirit of patriotism, sacrifice and commitment towards strengthening the unity and socio-economic and political well being of the country.
Okorocha in his message to mark the anniversary, said “I urge Nigerians to continue to believe in the unity of the country and resist the attempts by certain political leaders to use religion and other ethnic considerations to divide them, to achieve their own personal goals.” He added that at 54 the emphasis should have been on the things that would unite us as a people and as a nation, and not on those things that would rather polarize the country along religious and ethnic lines.
On his part, Governor Chime in a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife, said contemporary events and circumstances in the country today were enough to compel Nigerians to pursue ideals and visions that could only foster greater national integration and advancement.

Nigeria @ 54: Many broken dreams

HE was born on October 1. He also got married on October 1 and had his third child and only daughter on the same date. His family ought to be celebrating every October 1 but Babs feels funny every passing year as the date approaches. It appears the date is set aside to mock him.
Nigeria-@-54His birthday coincided with the celebration of Nigeria’s independence on October 1. It also coincided with the day he got married but strange circumstances have separated him from his family who are resident in United Kingdom where he also sojourned for 10 years before he was repatriated.
Separation from family
That also meant he could not celebrate his wedding anniversary with his wife or share fun times with his daughter who shares the same birth date with him.
Today, Babs is 54 years and lives in Lagos. He has no regular job after graduating from the university several years ago. His dream to live and work overseas was crushed. And he has been separated from his family.
Since he was repatriated to Nigeria, he tried to sustain himself as a self-employed businessman but his business at Tincan Island suffered from excess custom duties and multiple taxation. Babs had since jettisoned that business.
He no longer has a regular means of livelihood despite his B.Sc. degree in Business Administration and a Masters in two other disciplines. He has no home and has traversed between being an kabu-kabu driver and property agent. Over the years, the finesse he acquired through education has given way to a crude, frustrated, middle-aged man.
But Babs is not the only Nigerian who has been battered by fate. Across the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, there are many Babs but only few were able to make a success story from the school of hard-knocks.
…the journey so far
On October 1, 1960 when Nigeria attained independence from Great Britain, she had all the trappings of a democratic state and was regarded as a beacon of hope for democracy. The constitution guaranteed a large measure of autonomy first to three and later four regions which operated parliamentary democracy modelled along British lines that emphasised majority rule.
But certain fundamental and structural weaknesses frustrated these democratic trappings and therefore led to the death of the republic.
One of the greatest problems that plagued the First republic was power domination by the North made possible by the colonial masters who had hoped that developing national politics would forestall any sectional domination of power. But it did not reckon with the effects of a regional party system in a country where political power depended on population.
The First Republic paraded regional parties whose main aims were to control power in their regions. There were the Northern People’s Congress (NPC) and the Action Group (AG), which controlled the Northern Region and Western Region, respectively. Then, there was the National Council of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC), which controlled the Eastern Region and the Midwestern Region. The NCNC which ab initio began as a nationalist party was forced by the pressures of regionalism to become an eastern party, but with strong pockets of support elsewhere in the federation.
Regional parties
Regional parties then derived their main support from the major groups in their regions: NPC (Hausa/Fulani), AG (Yoruba), and NCNC (Igbo). Later, there was a more ideologically-based political party which never achieved significant power and that was Aminu Kano’s radical Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), which opposed the NPC in the north from its Kano base.
Along the line, several political movements formed by minority groups to press their demands for separate states began to spring up. These minority parties doubled as opposition parties in the regions and usually aligned themselves with the party in power in another region that supported their demands for a separate state.
During the general election of 1959, the major political parties won majority of seats in their regions, but none emerged powerful enough to constitute a national government. A coalition government therefore became necessary with NPC and NCNC leading the fray and providing a measure of North-South consensus that would not have been the case if the NCNC and AG had formed a coalition.
Nnamdi Azikiwe (NCNC) became the Governor General and later President after the country became a republic in 1963; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (NPC) was named Prime Minister, while Obafemi Awolowo (AG) had to settle for Leader of the Opposition.
The regional Premiers were Ahmadu Bello (Northern Region, NPC), Samuel Akintola (Western Region, AG), Michael Okpara (Eastern Region, NCNC), and Dennis Osadebey (Midwestern Region, NCNC).
Collapse of First Republic
Problems that led to the collapse of the First Republic started when the NPC, the senior partner in the coalition government, began to use the federal government’s increasing power to favour the Northern Region.
The balance rested on the premise that the Northern Region had the political advantage deriving from its size and population, and the two Southern regions had the economic advantage as sources of most of the exported agricultural products. The NPC sought to redress Northern economic and bureaucratic disadvantages. Many of the federal government’s projects and military establishments were allocated to the North under the First Economic Master Plan.
Economic masterplan
The government began to recruit and train many northerners and this resulted in the appointment of less qualified northerners to federal public service positions, many replacing more qualified southerners.
Naturally, this did not go down well in many quarters.
The First Republic also collapsed as a result of other factors which included the split in the leadership of the AG that led to a crisis in the Western Region, leading to a state of emergency being declared in the region. The federal government invoked its emergency powers and administered the region directly. AG was removed from regional power and its leader, Awolowo along with other AG leaders, were convicted of treasonable felony.
The civil war that followed wreaked havoc on the polity. The civil war broke out on July 6 1967. There were immediate and remote causes. The civil war was identified with the coup and the counter-coup of 1966 which altered the political equation and destroyed the fragile trust existing among the major ethnic groups. Attempts to stall the war failed after the Biafran Republic was declared. In order to hold the country together, it was divided into 12 states from the original four regions in May 1967.
After almost two years of bloody and destructive war, the quick victory anticipated by the federal side eluded it and the Biafran enclave had been drastically reduced in size but the rebels still held on. More peace conferences were held but none achieved a cease – fire and an end to the war.
But with more pressure by the federal government, the war came to an end when the self – acclaimed Head of State of Biafra, Lt. Col. Ojukwu fled with his immediate family members on January 10, 1970 to Cote d’Ivoire while the Commander of the Biafran Army who took over surrendered to the Federal Government on January 14 1970, bringing an end to the war and bloodshed.
No longer the same
Since the collapse of the First Republic and end of the civil war, Nigeria has never been the same.
Nigeria-@-54Subsequent governments messed up the system, battering the pride of the people and the country. The military reigned supreme with fiat. The lifestyle of the people became more divided along ethnic orientations. With each passing day, the lines got thicker. Nigerians are highly opinionated and self-critical and therefore, conversations at vendor stands, commercial buses, beer parlour and homes among the people inevitably are about the country’s underwhelming accomplishments and disastrous mismanagement.
Self-flagellation became a national obsession and despite the penchant of the people to voice out their opinions when it comes to national failures, they become reticent when it comes to recognizing national accomplishments.
Leadership impunity
The leaders have failed Nigeria in many ways. They carry on with impunity in total disregard for the people. The leaders have failed to provide the basic necessities of life for the people as they promised. Corruption has destroy practically all sectors of the economy and the perpetrators are going scot-free.
Nigeria’s leaders both in the past and present carry on as they want and this spreads across government agencies: the telecommunication system, the power sector, the roads, the education sector, the health sector, the railway and what have you. Corruption is reigning supreme across these sectors without anybody being punished for anything.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been the party in power since 1999 when civilians got reprieve from the military and took over power. If things were bad at that time, they have gotten worse since 1999.
The fraud being perpetrated in Nigeria’s oil sector has defied competent description. The whole structure has been eroded by corruption thereby leaving the government at the mercy of corrupt marketers, fraudulent staff and corrupt government officials.
The brains behind these shady moves are friends and members of the ruling class and many of these have received national honours. Many more will receive this year. The chief executives of some of the companies involved in the fuel subsidy scam that blew open recently are party men. They are the ones that obtain PFI (Pro Forma Invoice) to import petrol into Nigeria.
The country has been milked for years by members of this “oil cabal”but the scandal only blew open when the N1.3 trillion figure was quoted as subsidy and the Federal Government could no longer cope with the burden.
Poor infrastructure
It is an open secret that Nigerian roads are death traps and claim lives every year across the states due to lack of maintenance. Highways are in dilapidated and deplorable state. Some portions of these roads are washed out, riddled with big potholes and in some cases, are impassable. Abandoned projects have contributed immensely to the state of these roads.
The hospitals are now mortuaries due to lack of infrastructure and personnel to man them. Nigeria’s health sector is in shambles and something needs to be done as quickly as possible by the PDP-led government. Doctors are always on strike and in many places, hospitals especially primary health centres are far away from where people live. Some operate in dilapidated structures, corrugated roof covered with cobwebs and in many places, have become habitats of domestic animals.
In some tertiary and secondary health centres, water supply is not available. Patients resort to buying water in jerry cans and health workers have to wait endlessly for essential drugs and disposable gloves and there is also irregular power supply to contend with.
Brain drain
Nigeria over the years has been losing it’s experienced health workers to developed countries as a result of neglect of the health sector, mismanagement of resources, lack of priority, lack of respect for human lives by our leaders , low wages, poor motivation, persistent shortages of basic medical supplies, poor working conditions, outdated equipments, lack of efficient and effective coordination, limited career opportunities and above all, economic reasons are among the most important factors responsible for this brain drain.
The power sector is another thing altogether. Lots of funds have gone into the sector but there is no concomitant development to show for it. The Obasanjo and Jonathan administrations invested heavily in the sector but power supply has remained epileptic.
So much has been heard about on-going reforms in the power sector but Nigerians are still living in darkness.
The steel industry does not exist any more and there seems to be a loud silence about it. The Ajaokuta Steel company has been abandoned in the relics of history just like the refineries and about $1 billion will be required to revamp the moribund multi-billion dollar rolling mill.
NigeriaThe education sector is on fire. The ruling party has completely failed in this regard.
The primary and secondary schools have been known for poor performance in external examinations especially in Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the General Certificate Examinations (GCE).
Education is everything. The all-pervading system failure across all sectors is based on the failure of the education system. The poorly-trained engineers construct bad roads just as the ill-educated medical doctors are not doing well in the health sector.
For Nigeria to survive, a radical and urgent overhaul of the education system is needed. Stake holders have been calling for an immediate declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector. They believe that if emergency is declared, there would be no crisis in other sectors any more.
The government should sit up. It is impunity in all ramifications when a ruling party has not been perceived to have achieved much and corruption pervades the entire system without punishment being meted out to corrupt officials.
And finally…
It is obvious that Nigerians of today never heeded the wisdom of the sages. In today’s Nigeria, deceit holds sway. Almost every year, the people lament their situation, wondering if achieving nationhood is such an unrealistic and unworkable project.
From all indications, many have come to accept the reality that Nigeria is a society where the morons are the barons; where thieves are chiefs;where the monkey works and the baboon chops; where might is right and injustice the order of the day.
Today, Nigeria is a kingdom against itself. Things are falling apart and the centre can barely hold. Anarchy appears to have let loose upon the nation. Insecurity, corruption in high places and other vices are building strongholds. These are felt in every facet of the peoples life.
Affairs of modern Nigeria
For years, Nigerians have been wondering where things went wrong with the country but each year, the questions increase but there are less answers. Nigeria is forever preoccupied with how to redesign the Nigerian project after 54 years of self-governance because of the folly and greed of those who took over the affairs of modern Nigeria.
Beginning from 1966, the country recorded eight military regimes. The final military regime left power on May 29, 1999 in between interjections of civilian regimes.
Celebrating Nigeria at 54 to many is to fulfil all righteousness. The country has been able to sustain civilian government without the interruption of the military since 1999.
With her avalanche of social economic-cum political challenges, the country is still rated as a major key player in the global economy.
Every October 1 in Nigeria is observed with unmatched nationalistic ardour throughout the country. It is a very significant day in the life of the people because it is the day that binds all Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora into one chord.
And today is not different..

WWE superstar Daniel Bryan puts burglar who broke into his home in chokehold until police arrive

The 33-year-old former heavyweight champion took down Cesar Sosa, 22, after he spotted him fleeing his home in Phoenix, Arizona

A hapless burglar got more than he bargained for when he broke into the home of a WWE wrestler.
Cesar Sosa, 22, bit off more than he could chew when he raided the Phoenix, Arizona home of former heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan.
The 33-year-old was returning home with his wife late on Thursday when he saw two suspects running out of a rear door.
The WWE superstar gave chase and was able to catch Sosa, putting him in a rear naked chokehold until the police arrived.
The second suspect managed to get away.

Ohaneze Ndigbo vows to seek for president after Jonathan -

THE much- publicized Igbo Day organized by Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide took place in Awka, Anambra State yesterday, with politicians, including all the governors, ministers, state and national assembly members from Igbo –speaking states conspicuously absent at the ceremony.
The secretary to the Anambra State government, Mr. Oseloka Obaze was the only top government official present at the ceremony, though there were some traditional rulers from Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi states, as well as some women groups and Igbos in Diaspora.
Also, the Ijaw National Congress and Arewa Consultative Forum sent delegations to the ceremony and pledged to continue to build bridges of unity with Ndigbo.
At the event the apex Igbo body stated that for equity and justice, Ndigbo will seek the office of president of Nigeria at the expiration of the tenure of President Goodluck Jonathan in line with its position on the issue in 2010.
National president of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Gary Igarewei, in his speech reminded Igbos that there is nothing like home, urging Igbos residing in other parts of the country to invest in their home states as that is the surest investment they can fall back on in the event of crisis.
Speaking on the theme, ‘Sojourner remember Igbo land’, Igarewey said the suggestion became necessary because of the unfolding events in the country.
He said: “Our central theme revolves around an issue that has generated many different shades of opinions, controversies and commentaries, which is the impressive demand for our people to repatriate their working wealth and invest it at home.
“Our call is not in any shape of form the product of parochialism or sentimentalism or informed by a hatred of one united Nigeria. It is an action, which if heeded, shall even go a long way in sustaining the fragile fabric of a united and virile Federal Republic.
“The specter of being landlord in Lagos, Abuja or Kano, but reside in hotels in Enugu, Awka or Owerri is shocking, ludicrous and contrary to all logical considerations.”
He said that suggestions which claim that the primary motivations of those who invest massively outside Igboland are lack of security and good market environment were no longer tenable, arguing that the security situation in Igbo land has greatly improved.
