Managing Director of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Kunle Ade-Ojo has revealed plans to have the world’s Golf icon, Tiger Woods play on the country’s biggest golf course, the Smokin’ Hills Golf Resort at Ilara Mokin in Ondo State.
The golf course which derived its name from the quiet, rocky community of Mokin in Ilara, Ondo that emits misty fog every morning. The fog looks like smoke, when viewed from a certain angle of the course.
It is claimed to be the best in the country at the moment especially with all the features an international golf course can boast of while retaining its natural vegetation. Speaking at the recently held 11th Wuraola Memorial Golf tourney at the Smokin’ Hills Golf Resort, Ade-Ojo said the future plan of Toyota, sponsors of the tournament and the golf resort is to bring more professional golfers to the newly built golf resort.
“ The Smokin Hills Golf Resort is the best in the country at the moment especially the vegetation here is very natural.
“Our future plan is to bring in more professional golfers to host them on our course here, That’s my dream. We want to be the first because that has not been done in Nigeria before.
I’m looking at the majors like the likes of Tiger Woods and all, perhaps, we’ll be able to get them to come and play here. That will be my dream for this place. We want to showcase this course to the rest of the world.”
Continuing, he said, “The Founder and Chairman of the Smokin’ Hills Golf Resort, Chief Michael Ade. Ojo is an avid golfer and as a result of that, he invested a lot in this course. and naturally we are supporting it a lot and we’ve been able to get a lot of golfers to come and play on this course because it’s the best in terms of scenery and even in terms of the terrain.
The difficulty of playing on the course compares to none in this country. This is due to the hills having to go through in the game and the size is also probably the biggest in the country”.
