The All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State have disagreed over the implementation of the concept of stomach infrastructure by Governor Ayo Fayose.
According to the state Publicity Secretary of APC, Taiwo Olatubosun, yesterday, the governor has turned Ekiti people to beggars by doling out to them chicken, rice and money, while the PDP condemned the APC for blindly copying the implementation of the programme which they earlier condemned.
According to a statement by PDP state secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has adopted the stomach infrastructure principle despite the vehement criticism by members of the APC.
Aluko who described members of APC as deceitful people who will not see anything tangible in any programme or policy not initiated by them.
But APC image maker said Fayose was implementing social infrastructure programme to deceive the people of the state that he loves them.
However, the PDP said the APC implemented the programme after widely condemning it publicly.
“It is hypocrisy at its peak to do what you abuse someone else of doing,”
Aluko said in a statement issued yesterday, that the Fayose-led government would never shy away from the people’s welfare.
He said Governor Fayose’s concept of stomach infrastructure had been further justified by its adoption by the APC National Leader and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, who personally distributed 2,000 bags of rice, vegetable oil, sugar and a little cash gift to people from various parts of Lagos State on Sunday.
Meantime, the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, has raised an alarm over alleged plan by Governor Fayose to set thugs after the 19 APC lawmakers all over the state for humiliation.
The speaker also alleged plans by the governor to hire people to send threat message to him in the name of the lawmakers to enable him rope in the members of Ekiti House of Assembly for arrest.
Omirin said in statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, that intelligence report suggested that government-backed hoodlums have been sent to the streets to look out for lawmakers for attacks.
“Part of the game-plan is to smash the Toyota Camry cars officially allocated to the members, which they are offsetting through deductions in their salaries. In cases where practicable, the cars are to be forcefully snatched from the lawmakers and then create a robbery scenario,” the speaker said.
Omirin said the governor was trying to re-enact a recent scenario where a member of PDP who the governor robbed of primary victory, Cyril Fasuyi, was framed up for sending threat message to the governor to create condition for his arrest.
In another development, the Ekiti State Police Command has allayed fears of the All Progressive Congress, APC, lawmakers in the state House of Assembly, saying it will not dabble into the crisis rocking the House
The embattled speaker, Hon. Adewale Omirin on behalf of other APC lawmakers has raised an alarm that Governor Ayo Fayose has instructed the Police to arrest them, following the holding of a separate parliamentary session in an undisclosed location last week.
