Jonathan’s endorsement good for Nigeria’s democracy — ENVOY

Nigeria’s envoy in Morocco, Sen. Abdallah Wali, says the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the PDP for the 2015 presidential election is a good omen for Nigeria’s democracy.
Wali told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN,  in Sokoto yesterday, that“this is a welcome development and it is a very good omen to Nigeria, Nigerians and sustainable democracy”.
The envoy, who is also a gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP in Sokoto State, added that the endorsement would guarantee sustainable peace, unity and the general welfare of Nigerians.
“A second term for Jonathan will enable him to continue with his laudable policies and programmes.
“These lofty programmes range from the ongoing reforms, security, power to other infrastructure aimed at further improving the living standard of Nigerians.”
Wali also expressed optimism that the PDP would win all the 2015 general elections at all levels.
He said that the PDP was the only party to beat in Nigeria, adding that its mainstay was sustainable peace, unity and socio-economic prosperity in Nigeria.
Wali assured that the party would wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
Meanwhile, the PDP Youth Leader in the state, Alhaji Nasiru Gidan-Kanawa, said that youths supported Jonathan’s endorsement.
Gidan-Kanawa who also spoke to NAN in Sokoto, said “the youth of the state and Nigeria in general are solidly behind Jonathan’’.
“We want him to continue with his myriad of youth-oriented programmes and we will support him to ensure his re-election.
“I must, however, appeal to the youth of the country to shun all acts of violence, to ensure the prevalence of peace and unity in Nigeria,” Gidan-Kanawa said.
