Makinwa hails Super Eagles' performance

The ex-international has expressed delight in the display of Gernot Rohr's men after they refused to crumble against the Terenga Lions
Former Nigeria international Henry Makinwa hails the performance of the Super Eagles after they held Senegal to a 1-1 draw at the Hive Stadium on Wednesday.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored an 83rd-minute penalty to cancel Moussa Sow's opener for Aliou Cissé’s side.
"It is a good outcome for the Super Eagles against Senegal," Makinwa told Goal .
He continued: "At least they avoided defeat even without much training together. The technical adviser [Gernot Rohr] has not lost with Nigeria.
"It's a friendly match so psychologically all efforts are not effected by the lads and some players invited are to be seen as trialists.
The ABS FC handler has advised the tactician to assemble the best legs to ensure the country qualify for major competitions, while rooting for Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi over captain John Obi Mikel.
"John Obi Mikel should allow Wilfred Ndidi to take charge for now. He is simply better off seeing his performance for his club and with the country.
"For our forthcoming qualifiers, they must work smarter and pick the best lads playing in their clubs regularly.
"Nigeria can't afford to lose out on major international tournaments for now. All players must be on their toes."
After the Senegal draw, the Super Eagles will take on Burkina Faso in a warm-up match at the same venue on Monday, March 27.
