A brace from Gloria Iroka and a goal each from Halimatu Ayinde, Asisat
Oshoala, Sunday Uchechi in a tough encounter played on Friday evening at the
FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja.
Ayinde gave Edwin Okon's ladies an early lead in the 16th minute after she
converted a penalty when Oshoala was brought down in the box.
Iroka slotted in the second goal in the 35th minute with Oshoala providing
the asisst to hand the Super Falcons a 2-0 lead at half time.
In the second half, the Falcons heaped more pressure on the Abuja based
outfit with Asisat firing home the third courtesy of an assist from Osinachi
Ohale in the 50th minute.
Unrelenting six-time African title queens secured their fourth goal of the
evening in the 58th minute after Iroka slotted home a perfect pass from Oshoala
for her second goal and third in two friendly games for Falcons.
Substitute Uchechi Sunday got the final goal in the 68th minute. Elated coach
Edwin Okon expressed his happiness with the result insisting that there are
still more work to be done on the team.
"So far, the players in camp are responding very well to our training
programmes and I’ve been very impressed. By the time they are joined by the
expected foreign-based players, I think the team will be very solid and ready
for the title battle," Okon said.
"All we need to do right now is to be focused, work hard and at the end of
the day we can achieve the desired result,” he concluded.
